Prof. Edward Kirumira, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Makerere University delivers a talk on how to communicate research findings effectively

Communication of research findings is a major challenge especially for new researchers and postgraduate students. Despite efforts put in by new researchers and postgraduate students, publishing a new research in a recognized scholarly journal can be a nightmare. However, this shouldn’t be the case, as indicated by Prof. Edward Kirumira, the principal of the college of Humanities and Social Sciences at Makerere University. In the presentation delivered at the Department of Meteorology, Prof. Kirumira stressed that research writing should encompass a working title which help focus on the goal.

The goal should begin with keywords. Besides, the title subtitles should be catchy and jocular. One key criterion is that new researchers should avoid plagiarism. The contributions of other researchers should be acknowledged by citing. Also, the researchers should aim at using quality, relevant and latest references. The quality of the references used strengthens the quality of the research.
