Department of Physics Participates in the University Annual Tree Planting Event

The Department of Physics, under the leadership of the Head of Department, Dr. Birech, took part in the University of Nairobi’s Annual Tree Planting Event at the Field Station, Upper Kabete Campus. The event was held in support of the Government’s 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign. Responding to the official invitation issued by the Office of the Registrar (Administration) on 23 March 2026, Dr. Birech personally led the Physics team. The group arrived promptly at 9:00 a.m. The University provided transport, seedlings, and basic planting equipment. The entire morning was devoted exclusively to tree planting activities. There was no other business apart from the practical exercise of planting hundreds of seedlings in the designated areas of the Upper Kabete Field Station. The team worked together with energy and focus, demonstrating strong commitment to environmental stewardship. The Department of Physics thanks the University Administration for the well-organised initiative and logistical support. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Birech for leading the team and to all staff and students who participated. Photographs of the event are attached. Together, we continue to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
