The Department of Physics at the University of Nairobi recently hosted a Regional Training Course on Introduction to Nuclear Forensics from June 10-14, 2024. The primary goal of the training was to familiarize participants from various countries with the role of nuclear forensics in a national response plan aimed at addressing criminal or intentional unauthorized acts involving nuclear or other radioactive material, associated facilities, or associated activities.

Countries such as Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC Congo, Tanzania, and Botswana were represented at the training course. This diverse participation allowed for a rich exchange of knowledge and experiences related to nuclear forensics and its vital role in national security and safety.
The training took place within the premises of the Department of Physics at the University of Nairobi, Faculty of science, Chiromo campus.
